How the wood gasifier works

Smoke-free fire is the highest art and becomes a reality with MOON. The double wall, consisting of an inner and an outer shell, is the decisive factor here. 

When the air flow enters, it splits into three parts . The first two heat the fuel in the heart of the fire basket via the ash pan. The third part of the air flow rises between the inner and outer shells, is heated on the way and exits through the perforated circle below the opening. A second combustion stage takes place here, in which even the smallest wood particles are burned efficiently and a smokeless flame is produced, especially when using pellets.

Do you fire with wood or pellets?

With the MOON, you have the ultimate choice because you can light the fire basket with firewood or pellets, depending on the situation. If you opt for wood, you can experience the familiar campfire feeling, refine your stacking technique and take responsibility for keeping the fire blazing.

The advantage of using pellets is that you only have to fill MOON once and once lit, the fire burns continuously for two hours, smoke-free and without refilling, while you can concentrate fully on your guests. 

Extra tip: You can easily ignite the pellets with the höfats bioethanol gel fuel.

Light with pellets 

MOON is the ultimate fire basket for effortless and smokeless fires.

Step 1:

Fill the pellets into the MOON so that the bolt circle below the opening remains free (approx. 10-12 kg pellets).

Step 2:

Place 2-3 pieces of kindling wool on the pellets.

Step 3:

Moisten the kindling wool and pellets with höfat's bioethanol burning gel.

Step 4:

Light the kindling wool, watch the pellets start to burn and after a few minutes create the fascinating play of flames.
